HECTOR MALDONADO

Photography, as I view, is a distilling of reality into a personal vision; more like a subtractive process.

This project has been my mirror and my attempt to deconstruct the illusions that make up our reality.I document my personal experiences, capture scenes and split second details as I see them, and try to share the diversity of the world I have experienced with the viewers .

Born in Chicago 1962, from a Native American mother and Mexican father, I was originally trained as a chemical reactor operator. For years I pursued photography as an avocation alongside my other careers, but when you love something enough, it has a way of catching up with you. Though I did not know it at the time, it was all over from the moment when I have hold my fathers camera for the first time at age eight. From then on, the world was the ground glass, and it was only a matter of time until I left my desk job to pursue photography full time.

Seeing with a camera is the best way I have found to feel close to the earth again.

My photography is an essential manifestation of aliveness.
